right now he is currently housed in what i call his jail...its a modded 12 gallon eclipse tank, tiny as hell for him but he is moving up to his new tank on monday or tuesday which is the following...

-40G breeder
-Ocean Clear Canister Filter
-Intake and Return Section for Filter
-Mag-Drive 9.5 pump
-250W submersible heater
-2 Coralife Aqualight T-5 Dual fixture Lamps
-Coralife Digital Termometer
-Coralife Digital Control Center
-30lbs of oolite sand
-15lbs more of LR
-20L fuge
-ATO system
-custom stand to housing everything

will chart all of the tank readings (nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, phospahte, pH, calcium, and SG) two times a month to make sure things are stable, and im going to try and document his activity as much as i can to keep a log so i can learn as much of this species as i can as i find them to be the most interesting, also extremely extremely smart creatures

How big is this guy? He's beautiful. I'm waiting on my peacock. He is supposed to be getting picked up on Monday from the store. The reason why I ask is because I have a modified 12g eclipse right now too and it's my only tank. I am going to be upgrading soon, but for now, it's his home. The place (Makin Waves) has 10 peacocks. One large 6" male, a few medium sized ones, and they have a few "thumb sized" ones which is what I opted for because I want to see him grow, and because of the size of my tank.

I hope my eclipse 12 is okay for a thumb sized peacock for atleast a month or two

oo yeah that would be good for a tank for him, mine is 4.5" already, im looking for another mantis to keep in the 12G one so i might go with the thumb sized peacock from them too

i will deffinately be posting pics of it...i cant wait for it to be done, either can monte i saw him eyeing the top of the tank today, he was swimming all over the place in the tank and i am going to have a few damsels for a welcome home gift for his new paradise

Thanks for the reply mattyice. I hope all goes well when I get himn and I'm glad you say a 12 will be okay for a small one for now. I definitely want to see pics of his new home when you put him in there so I can get ideas for my new tank.

Amazing.. this is my first tank ever and I haven't even completed it, and I'm already making plans for another one! haha

BTW.. is that oolite sand that you have in the tank right now? It looks nice and fine.. and white... Looks good with the peacock colors

looks nice! is that just black paint on the back of the tank? looks like a mirror in the last pic!

just curious: why are 2 legs on the stand at an angle?

hopefully I can find a mantis as nice looking as monte eventually.

all of the legs are at an angle, the back of the tank is just painted with about 5-6 thin coats of krylon fusion, and thanks for the props on monte
