so for the past 7 months i have been hearing a clicking coming from my rock. i figured it was just your basic pistol shrimp... i never saw him come out, even at night. well, tonight i went in to feed the fish... and there is a 2-inch mantis eating one of my snails. he is dark green with orange lines between his tail segments and it looks like his swimmeretts (not sure if they are still called that in mantis shrimp) are bluish... i couldn't get my camera to focus in on him, but he looks like either the peacock or the wenn. listed on dr. roy's list. he just looked at me and continued to eat the snail for a while... then tried to pull it back into a crack with him. the snail was too big to fit through the crack but he went back to hide. ack! i don't want him in my reef but maybe i will set up a tank for him. does the old soda bottle trick work to get them out?
edit:
ok, i dont know what he is, because i found a molt that has front appendages looking like a spearer.... but aren't wenns and peacocks smashers? i couldnt find any similar looking ones on dr roys list that were spearers
