OK i recently purchased this coral (http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=477) for cheap from the LFS. This is because the coral seems to be doing poorly. My tank is predominantly LPS and i figured i would try to nurse him back to health. My question is this: any advice?? appreciate the help. I dont want this beautiful animal to die.

Have you tested your water? If so, post what you came up with, maybe we can help. IME, LPS like that one, with a large sharp skeleton are harder to keep than advertised. They get damaged pretty easily, and get infections around the base of the tissue. Nitrates and insufficient lighting have given me problems in the past....

all params are good with trace nitrates (waiting on cheato). I will definately start feeding it, i doubt that teh LFS did so.

Also, my lighting is 300W of VHO (150 actinnic and 150 10K)

i jsut did a water change to ensure good params. Alk is about 13
Anyway i can determine if there is an infection around the base? And how can i stop it?
