Pencil Wrasse - Pseudojuloides cerasinus

I just added a pencil wrasse to my tank. I had been looking for a little while for one of these guys. I actually like the females more than the male. I haven't noticed many if any posts on here about these guys. I know they are poor shippers, and typically don't take well to prepped food. They seem to starve over time from what the little info i could find on them says. Its a shame because I think this guy is better looking than all the fairy wrasse I have in my tank and was only half the price. Has anyone kept one of these guys for an extended period of time and have you been able to get it to eat anything other than mysis or pods?

Mine lasted about a month. Its weird, for about the first three weeks I would only see him briefly about once every 3 days, and it had nothing to do with me feeding the tank. Then, I started seeing him much more frequently, and he would eat mysis. Shortly after that, I stopped seeing him for good. :(

Thats not too encouraging. So far mine has been out every day. I think the trigger for him is when the MH come on, then he comes out. I have seen him picking at the sand and rock and even take something out of the water, but not anything I had been feeding the tank.

Another followup question. Does anyone happen to know if more than one of these(males) can be kept in the same tank?

good call. I'm sure there might be info on them in the fairy wrasse posts as well but dang there are too many pages to go through. I know he has a Pseudojuloides severnsi.
