Penductors

I picked up a couple today to see how they affect the flow in my tank. I picked up the 3/4" size. I have an extra 1" one if someone wants to test it to see if they like them. These are basically nozzles that pull water in as the pump water goes through it, effectively bumping the turnover up to 5X while keeping the flow wide. I also picked up a new products called "reefroids". Supposed to be good size for corals. will give a report after it comes in and I've used it a few times.
I picked them up at www.aquariumspecialty.com So far the service has been great. Had a couple questions and were answered in a timely manner.

Michael please let us know how the penductors work. They look like an interesting product. How long are they?

You'll be amazed at how much more flow there is in the tank. I have three of them on my tank. The only drawback that I can see as you really should use and pressure rated pump. Because they do restrict flow.

I have a couple of penductors on my return. They work!

The difference (I think) is just that the penductors are shorter, as the regular eductors can be pretty big...

Now what's the difference between a Penductor and an Eductor?
Penductors are eductors...just manufactured by Penguin

Well there are long ones and there are short ones. For most of us, we don't want the long ones (for once in our lives).

like I said, I have a 1" one, but no returns that it will fit. If anyone wants to give it a whirl- just let me know. If you like it, then we can figure something out (I paid $25 for it).

Rainer, if you haven't hooked yours up, do it now! I just hooked one up to the end of my 3/4" sea swirl, and wow. This is driven by a T12 pump (formally from custom sealife, but now under another name) that is split to 2 x 3/4" returns. I'm sure this is under the recommended flow to achieve the maximal benefit, but wow does it make a noticible difference. The standard sea-swirl nozzle was a trickle compared to the flow coming out now.

Hey Michael,

thanks for the words of encouragement - unfortunately, I don't have a reated pump ( am using Mags ) and even with the Mag 9 it really doesn't do justice.

I will have to wait until I change my pump system - not in the near future.

I just finished my new MH hood ( MH's being new) and the next two projects will be: MJ conversions and a Swirl water motion system.

As a last note about the company I ordered these from- service was excellent. Scott helped me get exactly what I needed.
