Penductors

Does anybody have any experience with these? I am thinking about putting them on my locline returns and was curious if anybody knew if they really worked.

They work extrememely well. With a pressure rated pump they multiply your flow by about 5 times. With most pumps they will still increase flow quite a bit. The problem with putting them on returns is you will decrease the amount of water returned.

Well I have a mag 9.5 hooked up to an oceans motions with 4 returns, I will be putting the penductors on two of the reutrns. Good idea bad idea?

Assuming you are using it for the return on the 125 I would say that's pushing it as far as return volume but that's JMO. If you setup the penductors in that config you will get more in tank flow out of them with penductors but not a ton more....maybe twice the flow....Mags don't handle head very well. If it was my setup I would run 2 returns out of the Mag straight into the tank, possibly just one on a sea swirl or wavy sea or something similar. I would then run the OM unit on a closed loop with a pump in the class of a GenX pcx 40. I have a Genxpcx 40 running a CL with 2 penductors and I would guess I get more than 4000 gph out of it.

Actually I have a 45 gallon cube 24x24x18, the 125 is my dads i accidently posted under his name, does that change your mind any on your answer?

Oh yeah...Duh:p

Yes that would be worth a try IMO if you allready have it setup. I would put the penductors on 2 that will be on at the same time so all the flow doesn't go to the outlet without the restriction the penductor will cause.

I was running 6 on my 240, 2 on my return using an Iwaki 75 and 4 on my closed loop on a iwaki 100 and was very please with the flow. As an experiment I removed the penductors from my closed loop and although the over all flow is reduced my corals seem to like it better. I may go back with the penductors but not right now.:bum:
