I am planning on stocking my tank rather heavily with zoanthids and coralmorphians. I was thinking about adding a peppermint shrimp to help clean in and arround the corals, but since they are known to eat Aiptasia anemones, would they prey on my corals?? thanks

No, they shouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t. However, if anything is stressed and/or weak they may try to ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œcleanââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ it further stressing the coral.

My largest one intially came out and tap-danced all over a brand new green zooanthid and made it retract. Then he left it alone, it came back out, and he's never repeated the performance. I think he'd never met one before. Does that particular one go after aiptasia? Rarely. The littlest shrimp will.

i had one, until it met its doom with a powerhead intake. IT didi the exact same tap dance thing when i introduced my first shrooms and zoos. I was wondering the shrimp do infact prey on them cause i saw it tugging at a rock very close to one of the colonies.

any other bizzare activities?

My shrimp and my crabs all hang out around my corals from time to time, but other than sometimes causing polyps to retract temporarily, I've never seen any harm. I have a couple peppermints and one (the other recently deceased for unknown causes) cleaner shrimp. My pagoda seems to have actually gotten used to them occassionally walking on it and the polyps seldom retract. I've never seen them pick at my leather, mushrooms or hammer, though they're often picking around near them.
