Do peppermint shrimp eat mushrooms?
I got 2 and put them in my QT tank which had some green mushrooms in it and shortly after the mushrooms disappeared. I knew they sometimes eat aptasia but never heard they eat mushrooms but seems to be the only explanation.

I had two in my tank and they didn't bother my mushrooms... but in your situation they def seem like the likely canidate.

i have never heard of them eating mushrooms. i know they will eat aiptasia, frogspawn, hammer, torch's and numerous other corals as well as your anemone. i wouldnt keep pepermint shrimp in any of my tanks unless i had an aiptasia outbreak that i wanted them to take care of and as soon as the aiptasia is gone i banish them to my sump. they are nasty little things that can not be trusted in a reef tank.

I used to have an aptasia problem and took care of them w/aptasia x.
I got the peppermint shrimp just in case some more popped up but didn't know they ate other anemones and corals.
Do you guys keep any other kind of shrimp or are they all risky?

THX for the info.

i personaly either keep or have kept coral bandit shrimp, sexy shrimp, cleaner shrimp, fire shrimp, pistol shrimp, mantis shrimp emporer shrimp, peppermint shrimp and a few other odd balls.

every shrimp has its ups and its downs. you will here mixed reviews on every shrimp. but peppermint shrimp i only keep for aiptasia and once it is gone so are the peppermints.

pistol shrimp can be destructive and can kill other inverts.

coral bandits i have heard horror stories about, but i have had not 1 problem with them so far. i have 1 in each of my 4 tanks.

Mantis shrimp of corse is not invert or fish safe. depending on wich kind you get.

Hey Guy, thanks again for the info.
I am thinking about seeing if the LFS will take the shrimp back or putting them in refugium sump, I definitely don't want to put these in my DT.
Just wondering if I put them in my refugium will they hunt my pods and other critters? I have pods and worms and tiny serpent stars among other little critters in there.
