anyone know how long a peppermint shrimps lifespan is? of course in excellent water conditions

im sorry but why was this thread moved? it was in everything salty i feel that was fine
no one looks in this area of the forum i wont really get a response here
thats not right

2.5 to 3 years is about the max lifespan. Spawner or one of those guys studies them for a living I think... you may want to search in the fish forum.

can these guy over eat?
they beg me for food every night. i throw them one shrimp pellet (ironic i know lol) and one usually runs with it until the other steals it. but can this be too much for them? i dont want to kill them with kindness
i never thought in a million years a shrimp would beg for food lol
:)

You can't really over fed them, as long as you don't mess your water quality up. I keep some of my shrimps on a constant supply of live food to keep them entertained. Others we feed 3-6 times a day, some just once a day. They do get bored of old food and really like a change in diet from time to time. These shrimp have very strong chemosensory structures, so any food that has a lot of smell will get their attention. The only time you don't see them eating is right before and after a molt. Normally you can expect them to live about 2 years or so, maybe a bit more or less.

My longest lived peppermint is 2 years, I've never fed it, it scavanges and steals everything it needs to survive. It fights with my serpent star all the time for scraps. The starfish usually wins.

LOL...i also had a serpent star battle my peppermint shrimp all the time, the battle was always entertaining. and yeah about 2 years...
