They are great for a reef tank. I have never heard of them bothering anything except aptasia. They do good eating small ones but I have heard they won't eat big ones. I always have a couple in my tank

Other than stealing some food from my chalices and acans. I never had an issue with them, and the do work great for aptasia.

They will steel foor from where ever they can. Buy there better than aptasia stinging everything.

The best killer for aptasia is a calk paste that you spackle the buggers with. It's messy buy works good.

I would recommend the peppermints, they took care of a good amount of aptasia in my tank. Even the larger ones which some people said they wouldn't eat. Haven't bothered any corals, but then again I don't have any acans.

One more thing, try and buy the largest peppermints you can find. Also make sure they are peppermints and not camel shrimps.

I've witnessed them eat my acans on two different occasions.

+1 Peppermints are creatures of opportunity and once they have a taste for coral, there is no turning back...no matter how much you feed them. My case was with my branching Hammer & Frogspawn corals.....they completely devoured them one head at at time. I watched them with my own eyes. It toolk 2 weeks trying to trap 6 that I had in my tank a few months after I set it up.

Just be careful...especially your LPS.

my peppermint shrimp took care of my Aptasia right away but then they started eating and eventually killed my hammer coral. I'm trading them in asap.

i have many pep's in my tank with no issues. i know many animals with eat things when the other animal (coral) is dying.

I have two that ate all the aptasia in my tank, but then they ate the Hawaiian feather dusters, saw them myself. But I have acans and none have been touched. So it might just be a coin toss....
