Ok i got a tank raised perc clown about a week ago from petco. It doesnt eat well so i was spot feeding it and noticed some white spots on the edges of its fins and up on the head. I think its ich but not sure. My tank is a 29 reef. just looking for some advice. I read some articles and still not sure.

My plan now is to remove the fish and put it in a 5 gallon bucket with an airstone. Then treat in the bucket, either copper or hypo, But what about the rest of my fish, does the tank need to be treated. Do i need to treat all my fish. *** they say saltwater is harder. Ok time to move the clown into a clean bucket, atleast i have some water already made.

I didnt QT this fish, I wish i had.

I figure the right thing to do first was seperate it and wait for a little advice.

I did notice the green chromis inspecting the clown a few times.
I think im leaning toward using meds like copper, is there any brand to use or stay away from.

I like Cupramine for copper treatment. It is well tolerated by most fish, all that I have used it on, and fairly stable in solution.

All of your fish have now been exposed to whatever pathogen is causing disease, so if one requires treatment it is likely that they all do. Unfortunately 'white spots' are a symptom of several disease, fortunately many of them are treated with copper. Ich is a possibility, clown fish are also commonly seen with brooklynella, which is sometimes misdiagnosed as ich.

Another possibility is lymphocystis, which is a viral disease that generally resolves on its own.

Any chance of a picture of the fish? If not, I would do some research online and determine the best treatment for what you think the fish has. The bucket and airstone may not work so well as your fish (all of them if it is anything contagious other than lympho) will need to be in there for 8 or more weeks. You will need some sort of filtration and probably lots of water changes.
