Perpendicular waveboxes

I'm planning a 72 x 48 x 30 tank, and it will have an external Calfo overflow on one of the 48" sides. I think I'll need 2 waveboxes and was considering placing them perpendicular to one another in the rear corner adjacent to the overflow (akin to how chingchai has his, although I know he uses 4 waveboxes). Do you think this would work?

The tank is so wide that I don't think it would work without 4 set up pretty much exactly as Chingchai did.

I was afraid of that. I love his flow but don't want to look at 4 waveboxes in the tank. I considered placing 2 on the rear walls at opposite ends of the tank, but if I do that then one of them will be front and center in view of the side view of the tank. Another option I considered was building external waveboxes flanking the Calfo overflow. That would work, right?

It would work but you would have to layout your tank so that the outflow would not be obstructed.

If its going to be a custom tank, then why dont you do as some others have, and have a box similar to the wavebox made of glass and mount it to the outside of the tank. Then you wont see the boxes in the tank.

Agreed, Rouselb, and that's what I initially considered, but if I eventually abandon the waveboxes (say it couldn't be so) then I'd have extra holes in the tank and silly glass boxes on the outside. I also want to reduce the number of holes and seams as much as possible since I know this tank will be in place for at least 15 years and I don't want to increase the chance for any leaks. Great point, though!
