Pest on my clam

Can someone identify this thing thats living on my clam, and tell me the best way to remove it? Thank you. I noticed it yesterday and thought it was just a snail, but then realized it was still there today. I can't get on photobucket at the moment, but it's white, looks like a snail and seems to be permanently attached to the shell of the clam. I'll put up a pic as soon as i can.

its definetly not a snail? could be a sundial if it is. which would be bad. they're usually white with grey or black stripes.

if its soft, maybe a tunicate/ sponge?

It has a head like a snail, but it looks like the shell is attached to the shell of the clam

oh and it is a snail, just not the type we picture. its a worm snail
