Pests living in/on my coral?! Help!

So yeah, saw this little thing sticking out of the base of the coral (skeleton part). So I thought it was originally a head that was growing that for some reason just died over. For some reason I had the instinct to touch it with (lets call it a long stick), well you could see the inside of it just retract all the way into the coral.

What should I do? Should I Coral RX it? Is it harmless?
This is the best image I could get with my phone, I'll put some better photos up in a little.

Not sure if this image makes it easier to see.
The purple thing on the left side is stuck to a rock in which the "worm?" was extended in before I moved the coral and that (shell?) broke off.

Unless they are over populating the tank they usually don't bother anything. These snails send out a web that can annoy corals but won't kill any. If you over feed the fish you will tend to have more of them.

IME its better scrape them off at the base when you see them.
I my tank got over run with them a few months ago. And I ended up taking out all the rock and cutting off as many as I could with cutters.
Since then I still have a few in my tank but I think they control themselves more now.
I have also heard of people epoxying/gluing over them.

It's hard to see much detail in the picture but it looks like it might be a Tunicate to me. If so it would be a harmless filter feeder.
