Pet Store in Stow

why even bother having a saltwater selection. Everything in the saltwater section was either dead or on its way. It was sad, made me wish i had a nice quarantine system so i could buy everything and save it from certain death. I have been in there before and was not impressed but at least the fish are corals were alive, tanks have been moved around but I cant say that the move benefited live stock at all.

I was in there tonight and the main guy who runs the salt wasnt there. They have a lot of tanks and its too bad the majority of the employees have no idea what they are dealing with. A little bit of training in there would go a loooooooonnnnnnnggggg way.

I was in there. They guy who runs it thinks he knows everything and is not afraid to tell you that. He has a lot of strong opinions about the other stores and how messed up they are. The guy didn't get that I was just browsing and was ready to leave. He followed me all the way to the front of the store, still talking. I think they have the right idea, but I'm afraid this guy is going to chase a lot of good customers out. (literally)

Hi All,

The place is 5 min. from my house and yes if you buy you better buy it before they end up killing it. Maybe if enough of us talk to them we can kind of help them along. The new owners look like they want to add more salt water items but their price on salt water fish is way out of line compaired to Two Turtles.

Here's the scoop on Pet Junction. The owners are the previous owners of Petland in North Olmsted. They sold out and bought out there. The guy whom you speak of is Brian who used to own Water World Aquatics in North Olmsted as well. He works for them now and is in charge of their saltwater.

so I gotta tell ya....this thread peek my interest and I made the trip to check it out. It had been years since I was in Pet Junction, so I thought what the heck. My take is that the coral that I saw was competitively priced. They also had a ton of large zoo colonies. They had more zoos in one tank than Salty had in the whole store last week. (not a knock on Salty, just a coment on this store) There were a couple of nice colored colonies that were priced @$54 for about 150-200 polyps. While the tanks needed a little TLC, most of the stock looked healthy. I wouldn't put this on my list of Must sees like Salty or AT, but it is worth checking out occassionally if you have the spare time. The only frustating part was that the "salt water guy" had car troubles and was AWOL, no one else had a clue. Including the owner. That said, with time, if the Sw business grows, I could see them investing in another SW person. I have a free day Saturday and might try again if the SW dude is in.

I shop there on a regular basis only because it it local. I bought alot of my fish there when I started out. Most of them are still swimming with the exception of new reefer syndrome. The fish are usually at least 1/2 to 3/4 alive. They are also fair on thier coral. But you do have Mr. Peebody telling you what you need when you have a list. I do have to admit that since my first encounter with him he is starting to relise that he has to treat people like people and listen. As far as learning curve, lets give the guy a chance and see what he does. We've all had a little water on the floor and not all of us are plumbers. I miss the (old) wet pets plus.
