petco live rock

does any one know the quality of the live rock sold a petco? what about the price is it worht it? Because they don't sell by the pound they sell by size i.e. small rock, medium rock, large rock.

Are you serious? Petco is now selling liverock?
I have seen a Petco by me that tried to do thewhole reef thing and they killed everything. I was going to rescue the yellow polyps they had before they were dead, but they wanted $50 for a rock the size of a golfball.

I would assume the rock is overpriced and I wouldnt want to trust it. Copper is petco's best friend, that is the reason why the one by me killed everything.

i'd say to forget petco altogether and:: go to a real LFS, look for local reefers getting rid of their rock for cheap, or order quality rock online! :thumbsup:

why not get it online or "used". I dont understand why people pay 6-10 dollars a pound on new liverock with no corraline, but wont pay 2-3 dollars a pound for used liverock that looks better. Not saying thats what your doing, but some people will find used stuff and still buy new... mind boggling :eek1: :eek2: :eek1:


edit: Dfiddy what year is your jetta? anything done to it, i got a 98 wolfsburg with a few little mods- looking right now at gettin a 02 tdi and gettin a biodiesel conversion for it from greasecar.com - - check out my red house to see some pics of my car lol.

It's manmade rock provided by Walt Smith.

If you do a search, there is a thread where Mr Smith replies and describes the rock.

Personally, it's not for me; but, I think it would work pretty good in a small tank.

Please don't support Petno I mean Petco. I'm sure that if you asked you're LFS they would gladly match any pricing or get pretty close. If you search the net a alittle you'll see why but the bottom line is that they have no regard at all for the critters they sell.
