Petco $ per gal sale now has a 75 gal

No 75's in Cibolo either? But definitely high prices for Instant Ocean salt. It was like $59 and $69 for reef crystals bucket

Heck I sold my old 180, handmade stand and canopy for only $250.

Mine was new, came with a stock light and glass lids and plumbing kit. Thought it was a great deal at the time. I've since upgraded lighting , bought a ghost overflow and have BRS screen tops. Lol.

$120 in savings!

$120 in savings!

Just bought one tonight for $71 dollars!!!!!

The store manager showed me just before I completed my purchase that there is ALSO a $15 dollars off coupon in their flyer if you spend $75 or more!!!

Check it out:

Wait, are they charging tax on the full price?

Yes and no, lol. It looks like they charged tax after the $15 dollar coupon deduction but not the dollar per gallon deduction. So I was charged tax on $165 I guess? Not sure what the laws are on those deductions and what constitutes as pre-taxable or not.

Yeah that's wild. I bought a 20L recently through this sale and was charged tax on the after discount price.

Hmm, I wonder if the cashier just rung me up in the wrong order? Either way its strange.

To update everyone on the thread, I just did the LCD screen test with both polarized sunglasses and 3D glasses that came with my flat screen.

The bottom pane on my Aqueon 75g IS tempered and the side walls are NOT tempered.

As it normally is. That's interesting.

:hmm4:

They ring up the tax on the retail price because of their book keeping since the tanks were purchased for retail sales and taking a hit on them, so they charge the tax as if it were the original price. You will notice they give you a discount off of the normal price? It has something to do with tax structure in retail or something like that.

If they rang up the sale price to be taxed then the cashier rang up the sale wrong.

Yes just like when you used to buy cell phones under the $199 with 2 year contract, they charge you tax on the full retail price of the phone.

That... is not right. If you buy something on sale typically you do not pay tax on an inflated price.

Not saying there aren't exceptions, but that is not the norm.

Now that I'm thinking about it more I think I figured out why they charge the higher tax amount.

They are ringing up the sale as normal along with tax then give you a discount of in this case $110. Same as with the 40b it was rung up as $79.99 or whatever the price was then taxed and then the discount given, so it would wind up as me paying $40 for the 40b tank.

It most likely depends on whether or not it is an instant rebate or a sale. I got my tank from petsmart a month ago and did not pay tax on the full amount.

Cell phones are a poor example because you are still paying for it through your contract in essence. Again, those are probably worded as an instant rebate.
