I can understand alot of the sentiment posted here... we have a bunch of petco's in the area... some good some not so good... but I really dont think this getting on our high horse and damning the whole chain makes any sense... if you want to go down that road then jump all over Walmart as well... why they carry livestock AT ALL blows my mind...
Its supply and demand... I wont buy anymore livestock from Petco but I will sure go there and buy supplements, salt, misc items... I am in the market for a Hydor K1-3 and LFS wants $60 for the 1 when I can buy it at Petco for 30$ so WHY would I NOT utilize them for things like that?
With me being a NewB to SW I did cruise the Petco's in the beginning but as I have grown in my knowledge I understand ALOT more than I used to but as far as Petco vs LFS had I bought a fish just to buy a fish 5 months ago they both would be just as dead! In fact I have learned who the really good LFS are and the ones to avoid as well... I think most of us once we learn a bit tend to lean towards a MORE reputable supplier but I guarentee most ALL of us has killed something due to our inexperience and it had NOTHING to do with where it was purchased or how it was kept before we took ownership.
