I saw that and was rather surprised that it went through it that easy

I used a masonary bit to drill a few holes and then a hammer :hammer:

thanks and I've had many a talk with several young gentlemen
I'll see if I can post a link or two of her singing, in the meantime another pic

haha - you said it not me

Marc

I'll add, she is down to earth but has expensive taste. And she's smart enough to know that even if you have money; when you add add in a reef tank as a hobby, you really have no money

I have two young daughters, and I am not looking forward to this at all. :( Having been a "young gentleman" once upon a time, I know exactly what was on my mind back then.

You inspired me to contact Marco rocks Pete. I'm going to see what they have in the cherry-picked Fiji, to see if they can help me build a nice cave in the tank center. Every time I look at your tank I regret that I didn't start with lava-lace as base rock.

Well, money or no money, I have to at least meet her one day. It isn't every day you get to meet Ms. Fort Worth. :)

just keep the shotgun oiled and you'll have no problems :)

lol this thread went and turned hilarious when I wasn't looking ;)

you guys are doing a good job of scaring me. Caroline and I are having a baby and everybody including her thinks it will be a girl, although we dont know for a few weeks.

nice work on the wavemaker, looks real nice all set up.

Can't speak the the cherry-picked Fiji, but I do like the shelf rock I got. I didn't cure it per say as it's not considered live. I treated it as follows:

1) soaked 3 days in a mild bleach/water solution with a power head running. I used 1/2 cup bleach to 30 gallons of water.
2) rinsed and let dry in sun
3) soaked in fresh tap water for 2 days and still got some organic scum on water surface, so,
4) repeated the 3 day mild bleach/water soak
5) rinsed
6) soaked for 3 days in a declorinated tap water
7) water was clear and free of surface scum etc
8 ) air dried a couple more days
9) introducing one piece at a time every couple days.

I made my daughter promise me when she was 13 or so, that she wouldn't date till 18, hold hands till 21 and not kiss till 25. I don't think she kept the promise.

Actually, couldn't ask for two better kids (now young adults)

The cherry picked Fiji will hopefully form some interesting caves, I'm hoping for a multi-level structure to fill the void in the center of my tank. I can put some shelf on top of that if it works out.

I'll keep this curing process in mind, it sounds better than two weeks in a bucket of saltwater.

She's in from school for the summer, so may be next time you drop by after a DFWMAS meeting or something. Are you going to head this way for the tank tour?

I read someplace that someone was complaining about the cherry picked looking like the standard stuff. But maybe they didn't specify what they were looking for. My experience is they delivered exactly what I asked for in the comment section. It was definitely worth the wait and I'd buy from them again without hesitation.

I sent them an email on what I want, and they offer pics of the result. I'll give them a call and see what they can do.

I figure it will take some time, but the wait is no problem since I am many months away from adding any sps corals. In the meantime I have more than enough rock to handle some fish.

Of course. I love the tank tours. Tell her to get herself all dolled up for me.

Bummer - I lost a clam this week. I can only suppose I either stirred up some bad detritus or knocked off some salt creep onto it. It was one I've had for over a year and it looked great two days ago. I've been keeping an eye out for predators, but nothing noticed. The other clams all look fine.

The corals appear to be recovering fine from being moved around the past couple weeks. some of the SPS just don't like change, even the slightest light changes affected some. Other breaking up my large plate and some unwanted fragging I don't think I lost any SPS due to the reaquascape.

Next project is cleaning up the two little fish rooms and working in a water change station. I may use one of my 40g brutes but it will completely take up the space on one side, so my other option is a 33g plastic storage tote.

Does anyone know if there are any issues using store bought plastic storage totes in reef tank systems?
