lol pete, I betthe blenny is thinking "why can't I get to the clams?!?!"

Ryan - you may be on to something; Jaba does have that, "caught at the scene of the crime" guilty look on his face. :hmm2:

that gorgonian is awesome! i love the furry stuff, pocilliporas, gorgonians ext... very nice!

It has always looked good but didn't seem to have the poylps out as much. Now for some reason, starting, maybe 2-3 months ago it has great PE most all the time. About the only time it pulls in is if it's agatated. I think it may be light related as I think it now gets more.

so it is photosynthetic then? it sure is beutifull! ide love to have a tank of gorgonians and seahorses.

I'm pretty sure it is. There use to be a plate coral over the top of it so it was in shade before. Now it's very happy :D

I finally did a water change tonight (3.5 weeks) I like to do them about every 2-3 weeks. Only the atinics were on and the blue tip stag had it's tips exposed. I spent about 30 minutes killing off majonos, I got to most of them but didn't bother with 3 or 4 as they were just to deep in the tank and I didn't feel like reaching that far in without another set of eyes on the front side of the tank. I'm very tempted to by a semi reef safe butterfly, but I'm concerned about the clams. Another fish I'd love to have is a blue face angel :rolleye1: but I guess you can't have everything.

Our phones in the house died on Sunday. My daughter tried calling and she said the phones were dead and she was a nervous wreck, thinking someone slashed the lines and came in the house. I told her; "see what if feels like, we feel the same way when you don't answer". Any way, I went through the attic thinking a squirrel may have got in and chewed on the line; found nothing. Then I was out of town so just today I look online and find you can test the lines with a phone to determine if it's outside or inside by using the box outside. Well being our only phone system I take it outside and test it - nothing. So now I think it's the phone as it's been acting odd lately anyway. So we go to Costco tonight and pick up a new wireless phone system for about $100. We get home, I hook it up and....... nothing. ARRRGG, That hundred bucks would have been so much better spent on a new fish or something. Now I need to call the darn phone company and tell them to come out and fix the line. At least I'm pretty sure the problem is outside and on their nickle.

If you plug a phone into the outside box and get nothing, it is their problem and not your phone. You can always return the $100 phone to Costco.

that's good to hear about the phone company needing to fix it at their cost. Costco has an excellent return policy and I'm sure they would take it back, no issues. But seeing how the other system was acting up I think we will keep it. Besides the system comes with 4 phones and one of them is water proof.

 Planning to make some calls while you lean over your reef?

hey - you never know - besides I may want to talk to my fish while I'm away

here's a link to the submersable phone
http://www.uniden.com/products/productdetail.cfm?product=WXI2077

actually it should come in handy around the pool area
the combo unit is the new Dect 6.0 (Interference Free) has 3 normal phones and the 1 submersable, and has a rebate so the $100 wasn't so bad

Pete, that explains why I haven't been able to call you all week. I thought you were just on the phone or the phone was off the hook.

If I were you, I'd take this opportunity to ditch the phone company and go with verizon fiber optic. That's cable, internet. and phone service over a separate fiber optic line.

I need your help though Pete, I think I have my first aptasia. It's right dead under my frogspawn. :mad2:

Hey Jay - maybe Sunday afternoon. My inlaws are coming over tonight and we head to West TX on Saturday for the Czech fest

I just ordered some more ApstasiaX but I have plenty of Kalc so we can mix up some paste and hit those buggers. Earlier you mentioned needing some epoxy putty - I'll bring that also

I currently have Verison Fios, I don't think the phone is on the fibre optics. I hope to get them out there this wekend but Isuspect it may be next week. PM me your phone number again as I had it on the old phone system that we just took out.

Thanks Pete, I'm busy this Saturday too. The boy scouts are selling popcorn, and I'll be out there with my son and the other dads/scouts. So Sunday after church sounds perfect.

The emerald crab keeps booting around the one coral frag that I haven't cemented down. No matter how many times I move it, he digs it back up with his little claws. Lucky for him he's eating all of the hair algae in my tank or I'd get mad at him.

Have you tried resetting the Verizon phone service box? I had to do it once to turn my phone back on. So long as your internet and cable are working, that should fix it. There should be a switch there somewhere to hit, you can't unplug it because the phone is on a small UPS.

I'll have to look again tonight when I get home - I didn't see a reset switch when I tested the connection.

I need to note that on Monday (when I wanted to do a water change) I found a frag that had signs of AEFW's. I pulled it and found eggs, so rather then take a chance not getting them all I tossed the frag in the trash.

I then proceeded to dip all the acros that AEFW's are known to enjoy in ReVive for 15 minutes in a bucket with a power head. I closely inspected the corals before and after the dip. I also blasted all the pulled corals with a Turkey baister before returning them to the tank. Fortunately there were no other signs of AEFW's.

Thinking back the frag did not get QT'd. Here it is several months later and they show up.

Anyone know how long cleaner shrimps live? I noticed mine died to today:(

no apparent reason as the tank seems to be doing great - the other shrimps look fine and all coral PE and colors are great. I didn't really notice anything wrong, but after seeing it laying there I realized it hasn't been as active as normal. Normally it was all over the area and would always come up to me when I put my hands in the tank to try and clean the hair off my arms.

Bummer

Your corals are looking great Pete. The unknown acro has those very cool bright blue circles inside each polyp. Try viewing that coral during actinics or even at night with a flashlight and those polyps just glow.
