Good point Marc, that's probably exactly what happened. The Undata has a bunch of the Aquamend on the bottom as I mounted it directly to a piece of hard tubing (no rock), so it got a larger proportion of the epoxy. The first night and next day the Undata was slimed over pretty heavily and appears to have lost some tissue on the outside edge. Despite having lost some edge tissue it looked like the polyps were still in place and healthy. Overall it looked much better last night so I think it will be fine.

Pete you should have called me. I'm always more than glad to serve as a "second set of eyes" when you do some serious tank work. I live right up the street, so there's no excuse not to lend a hand!
In fact I was going to ask for your help later today with aqua-mending a tricky LPS into place.
As for the lost frags, good luck. They are probably stored away with "the beast's" collection of stolen nori clips by now. Maybe you can work out a deal with that huge lobster for some extra food.

thanks Kane, and I haven't seen the movie in years so not even sure if it's on DVD. It certainly won't be in the "new release" section

Thanks Jay, this effort was suppose to be one of those "done in 60 seconds" that turned into an fragbuster ordeal. I may have inspect the Beasts lair and do an inventory of his collection as there is no telling what he has down there.
are you gluing that frag to a rock out of the tank or in tank? Out of tank on a removable rock would be preferred. For the frogspawn, torch, hammers type LPS where they have a stalk, I like to epoxy the base in to a hole in a small rock (sometimes I will drill the hole, like the one you saw me mount the other night). As the frag gets larger it gets enough base that it usually won't require a rock glued to it. I will place the colony or small rock (with frag) in a rock crevasse. If you are planning on mounting the frag to a rock underwater that is not as easy as the weight of the frag will usually pull it out of the cement or epoxy before it has a chance to set. That's when I'll try to peg the thing.

will do, but I recommend not doing that. Find a small rock that has enough weight to provide a stable base to mount the frogspawn on. I have some various size bits we can use to drill a hole in the rock to mount the coral to.
It's another good reason to have some spare base or live rock rubble in your sump. Speaking of spare rocks I have one of Marc's being held hostage, we will see how bad he wants it :smokin: I may have to make a small PVC pet rock jail / torture chamber and send him pictures.

Muahahaha! Let's put the rock in your huge vise, and we'll send Marc a picture and a ransom note.
The frogspawn colony is a large two-header almost the size of my wife's fist. It was a rescue coral I picked up at Franks. One of the two large heads was dead, and the other was on it's way out under his VHO's. A few weeks under my halides and rotifiers have seen the living head come back considerably, it's almost full of polyps where there were only a few left alive before.
