Don't know if this is old news or not. But, I was killin' time today and went into Petland. They now have SW fish and corals.

Lots of horror stories all over this site talking about Petlands around the country.

From what I remember, avoid at all cost. :(

Actually, the livestock is in horrible condition most of the time.

However, I peek in there every now and then and have found some great deals.

Got a bubble tip anemone and a tomato clown already hosting it for pretty cheap. Both are thriving for almost 3 months now.

Got a green ricordia yuma there for $10, which multiplied 3 times this week :p

Im not saying everything is in great shape, because it sure isn't :)

And somebody go buy the cute golden retriever whose been in that cage for 2 months!

Also, the petland is in front of old navy/outback and right across the street from panera bread.

Poor puppy! I refuse to buy a pet from one of those places. I think it only fuels the puppy mill operations. Probably why no one has taken him home, they are afraid he came from a puppy mill and will have health issues. He still needs love but I hate puppy mills! Ok I may have watched one to many "Animal copps houston"

But I did call about a Snawsure  (I know thats spelled wronge) locally and they wouldn't let me come to the property but they would meet me with some puppys for me to pick from :(. I bet I know why they don't want people seeing there living conditions. They are probably horriable!

Pickupman, I think you're talkin' about Animal City next to the bowling alley. I didnt really look too close at the fish...(I mainly stopped in to see what a lionhead rabbit looks like). But, they did have a couple nice lookin' yellow tangs (didnt have a price). The corals seemed a little high....$60 for candy cane and mushroom rock. They did have a nice lookin' Harlquin tusk for $69 (dont know if thats a good price or not) Very cool fish though...

Hey Steve,

Where's Petland?? Is it that place close to the mall or walmart? Can't remember exact location........

Mikejer, yea it across from the old navy shopping center. It's right next door to Supercuts.

Steve

it seems like they do every end of the year, close down then open back up under new management...somethin' like that. We'll see what happens this year...

Steve

They only had birds, dogs, and cats when I went in there, that's all I remember they had anyway.....I just remember they were wayyyyyyyyy over priced on birds, plus the guy they got it from isn't very good. I went to visit the guy's place where he kept his birds,,,,HORRIBLE condition, I should of called the animal patrol on him.....

I think you guys may be talking about two differant places. The store near the Walmart out by I-24 is PestSmart. That's a national chain and they don't carry SW fish, but they do carry a few SW supplies. I think Pet Land is on Broad. It's the one that had the Wallaby for so long.

The one that had the Wallaby is Animal City next to the Bowling Alley. Petsmart and Petland are really close to each other. Petsmart is actually located behing Petland.
