pH, people and closed windows!

Yesterday it was warm/hot and there were a bunch of people over for a meeting. The windows were closed. Here is a graph of the pH. Big dip during the meeting!!

Do you notice anything out of the ordinary in the system when the ph drops that low?

Didn't notice any problems. The dip is not really that long.

I also don't trust my pH probe. I bought the Apex used and don't know how old the probe is. i just received a new probe that I'll add to the system. This way I can compare probes.

Someone remind me for the next meeting, I'll make some Borax (?) pH refernece solution for everyone.

This way, we can all check out pH probes to make sure they are accurate.

I use the pH buffer solutions to calibrate. I just have no confidence that it holds calibration for very long.

FYI, at the last BAR meet about chemistry, Craig Bingham said the 10.0 solution is not extremely stable over time. It's better to use the single packet for pH 10.

By the way, a typical pH swing day to night. The big valley on the left is the party.

I was referring to another pH reference solution using borax or something. I need to look it up.
9.xx pH or something.

Hook a CO2 scrubber up to your protein skimmer. A 5 min job.
BTW, John you should choose your friends wisely its like that bunch was sucking the life right out of your tank.

Welcome back, James! Haven't seen any posts from you in quite a while.

'Sucking life' - cute! More like blowing noxious gasses!

It's hard to keep friends if I limit their respiration!

BTW, I started dosing 2part yesterday. Both CA and Alk were low. Look at the change and stability of pH! The dosing pumps went online at the low pH point.
