PH Probe Location

Is there a recommended place for the PH probe to be located? Right now I have mine in the sump close to the return back to the tank. Is this too much flow? Is having it in the sump or tank the best? Looking for opinions.
 
I just threw mine in the 3rd chamber of my sump. I really wish I could find a good suction cup or holder so I didn't have to have the pH and temperature probe lying in the bottom.
 
A dark location with good water flow is best. Don't allow the probe to lay on the bottom and bright light areas only allow algae growth which results in incorrect readings. Even just dangling in the current in a sump is great. I personally use a magnet probe holder, I previously used suction cups but they don't last.

Do you have a link? Mine is actually just laying in the bottom of the sump currently and I haven't had any issues. I would like to get it secured to the side though.
 
As I recall, all the probes I've seen except temperature suggest NOT to submerge them completely for reliability. So you may want to get it in a holder, or at least dangle it partly out of the water.
 
I got a piece of styrofoam and put two holes in the top just big enough for the probes to squeeze through.

I have it floating between the skimmer and sump inlet. I Figure that I can get more of an accurate Display Tank pH reading without the skimmer messing with it.
 
SoCal Tropical Fish Outlet is another good source of probe holders (and float switch brackets too). The photos on their website are terrible, but the products are good at reasonable cost. I'm told that they have them custom made by a local plastics shop.

Do you have a picture you can post of their float switch holder? Like you said, the picture on their website is a thumbnail and I have no clue what it looks like from the picture.
 
Avast has a good one that I use. Is magnetic and hods 3 probes at once. The magnet is big... i mean big and will stay in place.
