Ph Probe Problems

Sigh I belive my Ph connector is broken:

Had an existing Ph probe from a pinpoint monitor (and I purchased a new one from Neptune with my system)... Tried to calibrate the old one with my Neptune it wouldn't register the Ph 10 solution (registered at 6.something and when I pressed select as instructions said it said probe was defective)... I did the same thing with the probe from neptune and again defective.... Took the neptune probe and attached to the pinpoint monitor and it registered the Ph 10 solution fine... So I'm now back to the pinpoint monitor....

And Neptune is closed through the weekend AND on monday!!!

And if I have to send the whole unit back (which is brand new and new part of my system this is going to be a MAJOR pain in the butt!!!!)

Did it calibrate ok on the pH 7.0 solution first?

Is the problem only the pH 10 calibration?

Curt has said that the settling point on the ph 7 and 10 calibrations doesn't matter and they won't equal 7 and 10 respectively when settling. Only after the calibration update is complete should the pH probe be reading correctly.

What is the ORP reading? Is the ORP probe plugged in?

Are you calibrating WITH the TEMP probe in the calibration solution at the same time as the PH probe? They must be in the 7 and then the 10 calibration fluids together or else PH will not calibrate. The temp probe on the ACIIIPro has a grounding point and the pH probe needs it to calibrate.

Lastly, and don't shoot me for asking, is the PH probe plugged intot he correct BNC connector on the controller ? The connector on the right.

Well it was close, but as I think back it calibrated the 10.0 solution and the 7.0 solution to both be about 6.8 something (which makes me think it wasn't working at all).

This I understand, but when pushing select the afte the 10 solution (and it reading 6.8 or sol) it told me the probe was defective (I know this is not the case)

No I haven't done that yet.

REALLLY!!!! Well that might be the problem.... Gives me something to try tommorow. I went back and re-read the directions carefully and you are correct... I bet that's it.

Lastly, and don't shoot me for asking, is the PH probe plugged intot he correct BNC connector on the controller ? The connector on the right.

Yes it's connected correctly.

Well I think you found the problem. Put the temp probe with the pH probe in the calibration solution (7 and 10) and it should work. The metal nub on the tip of the Temp probe is a grounding pin and must be in the solution with the pH probe since it uses it as a reference.

Is that only relevant to the ACIII Pro or to ALL AC's ?

That's great. Glad your problem is solved. Frogbone, it only relates to the ACIIIPro. The ACII does not need the temp probe in the calibration solution.
