Ph stable in barebottom tanks?

For all of the barebottom reefers, how do you keep your Ph at a stable level?

Calcium reactor?

I am trying to run a 90 gallon barebottom tank but need to know how to keep the Ph stable without having to add a substrate to keep Ph at a stble level.

Why do you think that substrate will stabilize pH ?

PH is stabilized with:
- aeration (skimmer, open window, ...)
- high KH
- dosing limewater during night time
- etc.

The sand in an aquarium does nothing for pH stability. It does not dissolve except deep in the sand bed where the pH may drop below 7.5.

So the pH in a bare bottom tank will be no more likely to deviate from nominal values. :)

So a substrate such as aragonite sand will not keep my Ph stable?
No.

It can but your ph needs to drop very low such as 7.5 or lower and that is an unacceptable ph for marine tanks.

Also there is talk that in a sand bed the sand gets coated with so much bacteria that it cannot dissolve. I dont know the truth to that though.
