How does everyone test their PH levels. I was reading Dr. Macs site and he says to use a PH monitor, but for now, i can't afford one of them, but how much more accurate is that compared to say a Salifert test kit?
Salifert tests are great, but a ph moniter is very sensitive.Try to save your money it will be worth it in the long run...The salifert test will get you by!
The reason I don't want to buy one right away, is if I buy say a Pinpoint monitor for 100 or whatever they run, and then down the road I want an Aquacontroller, which does the same thing, the pinpoint will be a waste. So I'll use saliferts and when I have the money, I'll get an aquacontroller to constantly monitor my ph. Unless there is a good reason not to do that?
Well, when you get around to getting the Aquacontroller, you'll most probably be getting or have a calcium reactor, in which case you can still use the monitor for looking after the tanks level, while the AC controls the CO2 in the reactor
another thing to consider. the value of those pinpoint ph monitors really hold up. if you monitor the used forum, u'll see that those pinpoints get snatched up pretty quick. so when/if you get a more feature laden controller, u could easily recoup most of your investment.
