Phoenix Bulbs

Hi guys...looking for something a little more blue than my ushios for the next replacement...so I have been steered in this direction.

The only question that remains to me is do I buy the 10k's or the 14 or 15k's (cant remember if they call them 14 or 15, either way you know what I am talking about)

If anyone has a shot of the 10's...that would be awesome!

Thanks for any opinions...dont want something so blue that I end up with blue sand or fish, but just enough to make the colors pop.

I will be buying two 150 watters...and I have 320w of 4300nm VHO on the tank already.

Thanks!

i have them on my sps tank and they are ok. im not really happy with the spectrum at all. seems most of the color is washed out for the most part , for me at least. i dont see the bright greens, pinks, reds, and yellows as i do under a 10k bulb. but like i said that just me

I went from ushio 14k's to pheonix 14k's and found the pheonix to be much bluer. I think if you ran each bulb by themselves the pheonix looks much better but if you already had a lot of supplementation via the vho's i would stick with the ushio 14k's

I just want to see what the phoenix 10k's look like.

I know this...I have used ushios from 10-14k. I have also seen what the 14k phoenix looks like.

Also, they may still be on sale on MD.

I made the switch a while ago to these and WOW -- what a difference. Nice blue pop, for sure, at 14k

I have never seen or heard of a Phoenix 10k, to my current knowledge Phoenix only makes a 14k. It is one of the best bulbs IMO. Love them great PAR and a nice blue color.

Was looking last night. I have made a blunder...they only make a 14k as far as I can tell.

So maybe you guys can help me...what is more blue than an ushio 15k...but less blue than the phoenix 15k...the phoenix just looks like it is over powering...and with my 320w of 4300nm VHO...I think that I will end up with the blue sand and fish, which I dont like.

Kinkfisher,

I was running the Ushios 20k 250w., recently switched to the Phoenix 14k the Ushios were a lot pinker with less blue then what I was looking for. The Phoenix have the color profile that I was looking for. Though with all that VHO lighting I am surprised the blue you want is not there.

Hope this helps.

I have two 150w www.fishneedit.com 14k MH fixtures on the tank...and the standard bulbs that came with them just drown out the blue from the VHO.

Maybe a 15k ushio or even a 10k ushio would let that shine through a little better?
