Phosban 150 help

Hi I just picked up my first phosban 150 reactor and maxijet 400 pump to go with it. It seems i'm not getting the proper flow cause the top portition of the media does not create the boiling affect thats supposed to happen even with the valve fully open. I've noticed that some of the media seems to making its way through the sponge so not sure if maybe thats causing the sponge to get clogged preventing flow.

Its possible there is some media stuck in the exit tube. Try taking it apart and seeing if there is anything in there.

That pump "should do a good job for you. That is what I run on mine too.

Good luck

theres nothing stuck in the exit tube and theres lots of water flowing out of the exit tube.

How much do you have in the chamber. Is it packed in real tight. I usually fill mine about 2/3 full.

Try playing with the valve a little to see if you can find that sweet spot, maybe there is to much flow. I usually have mine about 3/4 open.

I also noticed that some of the media that fell under the sponge under the sponge theres tons of tumbling but not the ones above the sponge. I'll have to keep playing around with it.

the tube that is connected to the pump is attached to the center tube in the reactor. I also have the pre-filter plastic piece attached to the input of the pump to keept large debris out so you think maybe thats causing the flow restriction?.

Heres the pic and the tube with the metal clamp is attached to the pump.

see that kink in the hose coming off the pump - bingo!
turn the pump on its side, then rotate the outlet facing up

You might not have enough media in there to get it to actually tumble. Try adding some more and play with the valve a little bit adjusting it up and down until you hit that sweet spot

Cut a longer piece of tubing, or just let the pump free hang, I dont have mine mounted they just hang.

I thought it was the kink in the hose too but actually when I get rid of the kink theres no change. but I think your right about not having enough media in it.

Not sure if the pump in the pic is the one hooked to the reactor. If it is I would unkink the line coming off from it as that restricks the flow.

Dang just goes to show how slow of a typer I am.

thanks for the help guys i'll cut longer piece of tubing and add a little more media and see how it goes.
