Phosban or ROWAphos?.......

Rowaphos.

But Rowa is VERY expensive and it appears that Phosban works better for the amount of $ it costs.

Personally I'm pretty happy w/ Phosban. Make sure to use in a Kent or Phosban reactor. This makes a world of difference in the effectiveness of the product.

The reactor hangs on the outside of the aquarium (at least my Kent model does), so all that is in the aquarium is 2 thin pieces of vinyl tubing.

I've used Phosban w/ a reactor and without a reactor and speaking from experience, this stuff is useless when not used in a reactor.

Can't you also use the phosphate media in a micron bag and run in a canister filter rather than just a phosphate reactor set-up?

Actually being able to see the media lightly tumbling or "dancing" makes the difference ....

I used to run it in a carbon gizmo (in a mesh bag) and the results were poor in comparrison.

WOW, now I need "dancing media" and a reactor to make it dance! Where does the spending end????

I had it in a media bag before then I switched it to a reactor two months ago. And wow the difference was night and day. I say a reactor is the best $30 I ever spent.

so you just pour the media into the reactor without pouring it into a filter bag first?

Top comes off the reactor, so you can fill it, no bag needed.
I like the precision marine reactors, a few more dollars but worth it, imo.
The water needs to move through it slowly, so it can absorb the phosphate.

Also, keep in mind that the water should move through the reactor slowly so as not to pulverize the Ferric Oxide which can supposedly poison the tank inhabitants.

I personally would not go any more powerful than a maxi-jet 400 for this sort of application.

If you are debating between the TLF and Kent reactors, you'll probably be better off with the TLF reactor b/c it is much easier to take apart for media removal/replacement.
