I am trying to lower my phosphates and wondered if you guys recommend this, how long do u use it. R there any bad side affects. Planning in using it in a reef set up. Trying to do more frequent water changes.

Any information will be appreciated

Thanks

I use one continuously.

There are lots of threads on the on the subject. The biggest side affect is dropping phosphate to such a low level to the point where it shocks your corals. To avoid this just start using it slowly and add more as your corals adjust.

Keep in mind that all living things need phosphate and you don't want it to be the limiting nutrient in coral growth.

I use a brs reactor with GFO and carbon. I change out the media every 2 weeks. I run 1/2 cup of high cap GFO. So far my po4 has never been above .06.

I use the phosban 150 reactor with GFO, I started out at 1/4 cup and I am now at 1/2 cup with no issues.

I run continuesly as well, make sure you rinse it very well in ro water before you put it in. The dusy can irritate some corals, same with carbon. Most everyone I know either has or runs it atleast occasionally. I use the phosguard pellets but all of the medias seem to work pretty well.
