PhosBan reactor

Can you mix both carbon and phosban in a reactor; like a sandwich of carbon on the out side and phosban in the middle? Maybe separated by a filter pad?
Will this work? Is it all right to mix the two or do I need two separate reactors?

I've mixed Phosban and carbon and it seems to work. Foster and Smith sell their own brand of the mix.
