Phosban Reactor

I am thinking about running a phosban reactor on my 90 gallon reef tank. Im thinking about the "Two Little Fishies Phosban reactor". I have read some other forums and reviews and everyone seems to like them. What do you guys think? My other question is if I am planning on running phosban and charcoal, should I get a separate reactor for both or should I just put both in one reactor?

I have one and it works fine. I use the valve to drain water for water changes too since it pops right off and has a control switch.

what pump do you use? They say you dont need many gph for this reactor.

I think they're pretty good, but I would check out the Bulk Reef Supply Reactor, too. You can get one that is dual that will run the GFO (Phosban) and charcoal and you can use it with a Maxijet 1200 that fits directly onto the tubing.

That would probably fit better than the Two Little Fishies. Click here to check it out. There's a video that explains it. Several people in the club recently bought them and I've heard nothing but good things.

Also, some people have been DIYing some reactors with PVC.

Hey Jon. I use both, the little fish reactor on my fish only tank and the double reactor from bulk reef supply. I prefer the one from bulk reef supply because it is so easy to change media, hangs on the wall similar to the ro/di unit (in fact looks similar also). They both work just fine, I just like having both gfo & carbon together, that double reactor unit is just great!

I use TLF's...I have two of them 1 for gfo and 1 for carbon and they are on my 90... Mixing the 2 I have heard is not a good idea...but I can't remember why

Actually TLF says that phosban / carbon can be mixed in a phosban reactor, and even recommends it for small setups to get enough media into the reactor to function properly.

With that said, I have both- tlf and the bulk reef. It's easier to see what is going on in the TLF unit, as the can is crystal clear. It's also very easy to hang on the side of the tank with the included bracket.

The bulk reef unit is basically a DI can right out of an RODI system. So it's designed to take very high pressures without leaking, and is generally overbuilt in every way for a media reactor. It holds about the same amount of media. The only downside for me is that it's not as easy to see what is going on inside the reactor, as the inner chamber where the carbon / phosban goes, and the chamber is made of that milk jug like plastic.

Overall, I'm pleased with both.

i ordered the single chamber carbon/gfo reactor from BRS & am eagerly awaiting my build completion to get it running
