Phosban150

Ok so I got a Phosban150 last week. Was having p03 problem. Its been running in the system since Tuesday of this week. I installed it as for the instructions.
Ph did not really move around. So since Thursday I have noticed my fish is breathing very heavy. I checked and rechecked levels and they are fine. What could this be ? I have herd that other medias can deplete Oxygen. Is this what is happening ? I have lots of movement in the tank for flow.
Cheers

Do you run a skimmer on your system? You might also try pointing powerheads towards the surface for more surface agitation and gas exchange.

why will not running a skimmer do this or cause other problems?
My skimmer broke down about 3 weeks ago . Waiting on new one to come in the mail

So is this the problem ? should I not run the reactor until the skimmer comes ?
the reactor can take the oxygen out ?

The reactor has nothing to do with the oxygen level or lack there of, keep running it. I would add an air stone in the mean time until you get the skimmer.

well I am not understanding then. Because after unhooking the reactor for 4 or more hours the fish is back to moving around the tank alot more . What could this be ?
lets say I put to much media would that cause this ?
Or is something else going on here. ? The fish was fine until I added the reactor. Like I do have power heads in the tank . There are only 2 fish in the DT

The only thing that comes to mind is perhaps a faulty pump/electrical issue. It may be giving off stray voltage, if you could check for that, that is the way I am leaning now.

Or fines could be getting suspended in the water column. Did it get rinsed good, and how hard are you tumbling the GFO?

It is not the pump/power head because when I unhooked the reactor I placed it in the tank to help build up o2 again.
I rinsed it until it was running clean. Like the water coming out of it was clear. I am not tumbling the GFO as in the instructions it say not to tumble as that will break it up. It says to have it just moving on the top. So Thats what I did. It was just moving around on the top layer. I will be hooking it back up when I get my skimmer in a week and I will post the results.
Not willing to take a chance with my Mandarin fish.
(finally got him to eat mysis, bloodworms&cyclops)
