Phosphate reactor suggestions.

So I am in need of a good phosphate reactor. Does anyone have suggestions as to a unit and media to install inside. I am currently using phos guard in my trickle sump for my nuvo 40.

Trying to keep everything around 60 dollars if I can use the phosguard even better.

Phosguard/aluminum oxide type media generally aren't recommended for use in a reactor because of the dust they can create. Though, if you use GFO, the Bubble Magus Mini 70 would work well (Around $70-$80 w/ pump.) They don't take up much room and the pump sits right underneath. I have the slightly larger mini 80 and it works excellent as a GFO reactor (You just have to make sure you get the one that comes with the blue poly pads.) My only complaint is the pump it comes with is a little too powerful and doesn't have a throttle gate on it (I ended up using an Eheim compact 600 instead and it fits/works perfectly.) Anyway, hope that helps.

Thanks! I will look into the gfo. I was looking for potentially a hanging reactor. I do like the small foot print.

IMHO, you can't really go wrong with a TLF 150. It can hang on the side of the tank if you like. I have mine hanging on one of my sump dividers. Easy to use, easy to clean, and durable. Mine is at least 20 years old.
