Make sure your phosphate media is Iron(Fe) base and not Aluminium(Al) check out this article http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/june2004/review.htm

Anyone ever read about using steel wool as a source of iron oxide for phosphate removal?

I ran across some articles a long time ago, but can't find the urls now.

Basically, these people were just dumping a tiny pellets of steel wool into their tanks, and as the steel rusted, it combined with the phosphate to precipitate it out of the water.

Post links if you have them, please.

I decided to get a TLF Phosban reactor. What pump I should get to feed the reactor? I am debating if I should go with Phosban or Rowaphos, any advise? I have 180 gallon SPS tank and my phosphate level is 0.1 ppm by Salifert, any advise on the amount of Phosban/Rowaphos I should start?

mini-jet 460 for the feed ,they're perfect for TLF reactor.i use rowaphos for my media.use 1/2 cups to start and then test the water that came out the reactor for phosphate to make sure that u have right amount of flow and medias.your media should look like the water is boiling in the reactor.
make sure to flush it out first before u hook it up to your tank.otherwise your tank look rusty for a few day.gl
