I think I just discovered a photobucket hack!

if you change the url of the links to photobucket, and add ~original to the end, the picture shows!!

try it!

I wonder if RC can add a script to vBulletin to automatically append ~original to any link going to photobucket.com.

of course this will only last until photobucket discovers this.

This will at least make thread pictures visible until that time.

What RC should do is make a process that runs through the broken Photobucket URLs, downloads them and re-uploads them to Amazon S3, then rewrites the URL to use the Amazon version. They would end up with a bill every month from Amazon, but it has to be better than a forum where all the history is broken.

couple more days to edit your broken photobucket links

for example, in sps keepers forum walt disney acro thread, this link is bad

Huh...so I did it first time as I normally do, copy img share, added your hack, posted, gave me that time out thingamajig, went back to copy differently, came back on and my image was up, weird stuff, wonder how far it will go or last but slick for now, thanks!

I see there are variations of the photobucket url.
If you have the html url, you have to get the url for direct link from the photobucket page, then add ~original to it.

My first attempt was the very bottom img share link, my pc has been slow w/ images, maybe it just took a sec or refresh to show, but it did work.

Someone passed on your pointer about ~original hack to me.

You are my HERO, I was working on downloading and re-uploading photos to another repository. Takes hours. Painful too.

Your trick got my 40 Page, dozens of Photo's restored in minutes.
Not sure how long hack will last, but it was great to at least go thru my 2 year thread one more time, since I never looked for a long time, thinking it would be there forever.

So after using your ~original trick I did some digging.

There may be many out there but I found a CHROME extension that will capture the whole restored THREAD (one page at a time).

Not a solution to restore on Reef Central, but a great way to archive a copy for yourself.
