Hey folks - I am unable to attend the tank tour this weekend b/c I will be camping in the Smokies. So, yay for camping, boo for missing this tour. :( I was really looking forward to seeing John's tank and all of our members in their stocking feet.

I am hoping someone will volunteer to take some photos for the website and The Wave. If you can snap a few pics, please post here, PM me, or drop me an email.

Thanks!!

I am new to the area. Just moved in from Cincinnati just under a year ago. I would like to attend the meeting and become a SEASL member at the same time. I have a digital camera that I would be more than happy to take with me to get pics of various things. Thanks, Steve

Thank you so much for offering! We're glad you found us and I'm sure you'll enjoy the tank tour. We have a great group of people in this club. :)

I really appreciate your offer on the pics. Feel free to email them to me anytime and we'll get them posted on www.seasl.org as well as in the November edition of our newsletter, The Wave

Chelsey - we crossed posts - I would love to have some shots from you too! This way we'll be sure to get some good ones of the members and the tanks. :)

Thanks guys!

Haha - I hike w/ a bell on my pack & bear spray on my hip. I think I've seen one too many "when animals attack!" documentaries.

Just to derail this more, when I was a kid my parents rented one of those campers you unfold and we went to the smokies. We had a bear raiding the campsites and they tranquilized it right under the bed platform my parents were in just above it a few minutes earlier. That would be a really good story if they missed and put my dad out!

Unless you are hiking in the more rugged and remote parts of the Smokies, you will most likely not see a bear. Plenty of deer and perhaps some turkey, but the park is so crowded now that the bears usually stay hidden fairly well.

Hiked all over the Smokies for years, and in 10 years I saw a bear once while on a hike.

They are there, but don't really care for the crowds a whole bunch. Have fun camping...
