A couple of people had asked me to post photos of our Marco Rocks when they came in - so here they are:

We're really happy with what we got! We bought 50 pounds, and it cost us $130 including shipping. The rock is very porous, and honestly it is much nicer looking than we expected. In fact, it is much nicer looking than any of the "second hand" Fiji rock that I've picked up from other reefers. I was really impressed with how little breakage we ended up with (very little rubble in the box). There is a small amount of dead matter on the rocks - mostly looks like some dried out halimeda - I definitely plan to cure or "cook" the rock for a couple of weeks before we put it in the tank though. I want it to be as clean as possible before adding it to the new tank.

Hopefully this weekend we will finish the stand, and maybe I can get a build thread started for the 125!

Anna :)

Wow, thanks for the pics Anna! I really like the shapes and sizes of the rocks. Too bad they weren't around when I set up my tank last fall. Anyway you should start a build thread in the GIRS forum. I think it'll be nice to see how your new tank progresses. :)

Nice rock Anna! What is "Marco Rock"?!

www.marcorocks.com

Great looking rock.
I saw another post awhile back and it looked just as good.
Makes me want to order and I don't even need any :D

Thanks for the compliments everybody! We are really happy with our purchase - both the product and customer service are great! I can't wait to get it in the new tank!

Ziggy - This is dried out Fiji rock to the best of my knowledge. Personally I think that it is better looking than a lot of the live Fiji rock that I have seen! It actually looks similar to the Marshall Island rock that I bought from Premium Aquatics for my 20g tank.

Thanks,
Anna :)

Very nice Anna, thanks for sharing. I've been looking at base rock for while now. I know most of the places were out of business or not responding to e-mails lately. I'll probably go ahead and order some.

Thanks for the pictures.... looks like really good rock! Maybe we could get a discount or save a few bucks on a bulk order if a few people want to get together and get some?!?!?

I'd be willing to throw in with you. It would have to wait until the 20th of next month. My reef funds are tapped out for the time being. I'm ordering a new RO/DI system, gotta have water before rocks. I could get by with 5 gallons a week from AE with the nano, the 58/sump are gonna need it's own water supply to fill it.

Hi Al -
When we bought it they were out of stock, and had a pre-order special w/ $10 shipping. I think it is usually about $20 shipping for 50 pounds.

HTH,
Anna

We'll hookup on this then. I could always put some of that in my filter to make it live as well. :)

You don't need your own water supply to filly a 58... quit being a sissy. :) I filled my 75 with a trip to AE. 16 jugs later I was done. Yes, only one trip there... the Honda was NOT happy about that at all! lol

Old thread I know, but I was just wondering if you had any updated pics of this rock. I would like to see how it looks 6 months later.

Thanks.
