Lavender in color with brown polyps..when giving to me he said it was a purple photosynthetic gorgonian..thanks

I wouldn't be able to tell you... I have had the hardest time getting gorgonians for seahorse tank. Would you care to tell me were you got it from so I could look into getting one myself?
 
Sorry but didn't purchase online never have...got it in a trade locally here.. my lfs usually has diff varietys I can lead you in that direction they might help...I'm sure there out there somewhere online..

No problem. They are rare online I'm guessing because of their size. But, I got a purple plume for now. I will just have to wait till summer when the storms aren't so bad :P.
Oh and what lights are you using? They look like t5s. Just curious :D.
 
Really....traded it for some loose purple mushrooms I had laying around...actually found this trade on craigslist..oh yea it's a 150 wtt mh that needs new bulbs...
 
you might have better luck getting an id with the soft coral keepers - i can name dozens of non-photo gorgonians, but at almost a total loss when it comes to photosynthetic ones...

SeaLifeInc.net has a great selection of gorgonians. I was very happy with what I received.
