Phyto/ATO

Is it possible to have phyto growing in your ATO? What better way to feed your corals than automatically?

Of course, youd want it to be pretty diluted, and would likely be pulling a half gallon out every few days to replace it with new RO.

What are the shortcomings of this?

also the majority of lps and soft corals prefer zooplankton(cyclopeeze) as a food source. Unless your tank is predominately sps then phyto can be used very sparcely

the best way to automatically feed inverts to your tank is by using a refugium. By low flow and making sure the flow gets back to the tank and not filtered then you can have a constant supply and variety of copopods etc produced
