phyto concentrating

How does DTs or whomever concentrate their phyto. Do they use a centrafuge?

FAF lists the size of nano at 4-6 um, but the smallest sieve I could find is 10um. I also looked at AquaticEcosystems. They didn't list sizes, but none specifically mentioned phyto.

Does anyone know where to find something small enough?

Thanks, that is what I thought. So there is no easy way to accomplish the task. Oh well, not that big of a deal.

Yeah, don´t know of a small scale way to do that although you can buy the chemicals... I think it´s just not worth the money and time but would try once just in case.

You can concentrate your phyto if you are not concerned if it is alive when you are done.

Take a bottle of phyto and put it in the fridge with the cap on. It will settle after a few days. Pour off the clear liquid on top (use it to feed rotifers or your tank) and then you can take the thicker slurry of green and do it again, or put it in a smaller bottle. I'm not sure if it is alive after doing this, but you could test it by seeing if you can start a new culture from it.

If it's Nannochloropsis or Tetraselmis, you can freeze it to use later.

After letting it settle, I freeze it, so it keeps maybe a year? I don't know exactly.
