Phytoplankton culturing help!

plancton

Active member
Hi, a friend of mine can ship me live phyto plankton from his DIY culture. Can this serve me to start my own culture, or the only way is to buy one of those florida aqua farm discs?.

Also will the phytoplankton survive shipping and stuff and be useful to reproduce?

1) yes
2) yes, no need to buy a disc if you have a live source
3) depends on the length of the shipment and how it is prepared but ultimately yes :)
