Here's a pic I found on the web of a owner hand feeding his Peacock Mantis Shrimp, makes me cringe of the thought.

he doesnt have any raptorial appendages, I imagine he will probably regenerate them after couple molts...

I took that Photo. Yes there were no raptoral appendages. I must say though she still had a lot of strenght even without them. It was my first big mantis.

I have a g. smithii that I hand feed.. he's only about about two inches long.. takes the food gingerly out of my fingers...

I never did find out why she pulled them off. One day I came home and she had pulled them off. I have heard that if they are not in enough use they will some times do this. Every mantis I had after that I made sure that I was giving live sails or crabs to just to make sure they would be smashing enough.
