you thought right,

picassos are PERCULAS, not osc. its not the first time a lfs named something incorrectly and it certaintly will not be the last.

maybe it's because they have almost no black in them...which is why I also thought they were not the real deal...But they look just like the pics posted above.

You will never get picassos like the ones from ORA..NEVER..

what do you mean? They had about a half dozen on sunday...$60/each. Straight from ORA.

There is no reason that there can't be picasso ocellaris, but if they come from ORA then they are percula.

I have seen pics of a couple wild caught perculas that are just as nice as the one that ORA is using for breeding stock. Never is a long time :)

they are juveniles. your comparing a juv to an adult.

ireef, i disagree,
i would not say never when it comes to radomization with genetics. at the rate ora is producing them, i bet it will happen, just a matter of time. we see a fraction of what they produce.

Not like the ones from the pictures they didnt.

ok, whatever man...I am just making it all up...

They looked just like the guys posted above if not even nicer with more white...

unless you are talking about another picture I am not seeing? forgive me if that is the case

Not sure why you find it so hard to believe...Supposedly this LFS is one of the best in the country...They almost always have 1 or 2 snowflakes and apparently there is only one guy that is breeding them right now over in Europe?

All I know is the owner told me they came from ORA, and they were priced the same as the Black Variant Oscellaris. They must not be too expensive wholesale.

phender can you post these pics or links. i have never seen anything close to oras brood stock.

jerz, ok give us the name of this amazing lfs you protest. thanks

ok ok i agree, that store is very good.

very good, but you usually pay a premium...

However, I don't mind paying a little extra for nice healthy fish.

so you think i should go back and pick up a pair...I got the vibe that they were pretty easily attained when I was there sunday. Maybe the market is about to be flooded w/ these guys, like the naked clowns a while back?

Well, never meaning...not any time soon, LOL..

This is the picasso im talking about JER-Z..

ok, see that is what i thought they should look like...which is why i didnt pick up a pair...So is ORA breeding "picasso oscellaris" as well?

that was another guy who posted the pics, but they looked just like his

ireef, he did not post any pics.

and the ones posted by leishman are percs.

i would recommend getting them if your looking for some odd clowns and post pics if you do.

Oops, sorry..I meant Leishman's pics...they look like Oc's to me..

I dont know if ORA is breeding Picasso ocellaris..but people have high expectations ..they may buy Picassos from ORA and they look NOTHING like the parents (which one of them is the fish on the picture i posted.)

pics posted are of JUVENILES NOT ADULTS.

the term "picasso" was given by ORA for there percs. it is defined by irregular variation in the white bands and the potential of black/onyx dev. as they mature. when these clowns show up at lfs, they are JUVENILES and have a potential to dev. heavy black as they become ADULTS and mature.

just like onyx babies they may/may not dev. black coloring.

leshmans pics are of PERCS , you can tell thru the eyes.

ora is NOT producing picasso osc. there is no such thing as a picasso osc. based on oras original defn.

yeah i agree, absolutely fish is one of the best reef stores ive been to, when it involves healthy, rare, livestock.

Hey everyone, I bought a juv. picasso percula last month at my LFS. I'll post pics of him/her as soon as I can. Problem is it is only around 2inches long.
