picasso clowns

How old?? Mine are only brought home this Tueday. They were picked up from ORA on the 19th of June, so probably just a few months old...

Well I got them monday, and they are both wild caught. As far as age, I've never seen a female this large before, so I could only imagine that shes 3-4years old, as far as the smaller guy I would say 1-2 years. And where I got them from.."your on a need to know basis, and you don't need to know"..lol Quote from my favorite movie (The Rock)

I promised her I wouldn't say. I get great deals from her because that is the only place local that I shop. I would say a pair should normally go for arond 200 and I got mine for right near there for the trio.

$75 for the large one and $65 for the other guy.

The only downside was the 100 dollar shipping cost.

lol,

bones

I have no problem telling people I got them from SITC, because the next pair are spoken for(whenever they come around) and she doesn't ship(yet). Mine are the ORA(hopefully the box-cheek effect will show up) and they are quite amazing little guys. Most of her clowns are ORA and she is now getting a few from other places, but if ORA has them, she can get them

Ouch...100 for shipping. Beautiful pair nonetheless. All in all, I would say the pair you got are well worth it even with the shipping. Luckily ORA is right down the road, so shipping is not bad, and mine were picked up at the store.

... but just thought I'd ask if anyone else has herd of picasso's breading young.

If the female is the Picasso, then Yes. Very possible.

Thank you OAMA. I believe they are both Picasso, its just the female ... is well... not to say anything bad about your offspring but she would be a low grade picasso. The male is really pretty though, lots of black already.

I'm really quite amazed that they would breed so young though. I thought commom occurance was CB clowns breed less frequently than WC.

Would be neat for someone to raise fry and see how f2 generation would look.

How young were they when they started spawning? Do you have pics? By the way, Jov, did you used to live in Orlando, or am I thinking of someone else?

hey...yes its me... use to live there. The pair is not mine, they are living at a LFS up here. I tried to get them to separate them so I could buy the male to pair with my onyx but he said they started spawning so he would not separate them.

Said they've had 3-4 spawns so I'm guessing a month or 2 ago they started spawning. I dont know what age ranges they are sold at, that would be a question for oama. The store has had them since late april too ... so you do the math :)

Yes, forgot about all that right after I read it... mybad. Something like 90%(or was it 99%, I forget) of picassos turn out to be just regular percs. It probably early on looked like a picasso patterning was forming and then got stunted for some reason. Who knows??(hmhm...Oama)

Has anyone found out what causes this barring pattern. I have heard water conditions, genetics, food during baring phases, medications used during baring phases, ammonia introduced during baring phases, high nitrates... on and on and on.

I personally tried to do the opposite and create an all black clownfish. My last batch was close, but there was still some broken bar patches (on one side, other side is clean) with this batch of black ocellaris. I am figuring out how to remove bars, but just cannot figure out how to induce over barring...
