I'm undecided about which tang will be the "center piece" fish of my 75gal. My wife wants a yellow, but I'm afraid that they are too large for my 75. This tank will not be heavily stocked (except for the tang, LOL). I will probably go with a couple percs (may change, but a couple clowns regardless), a yellow watchman goby or an orange spot goby...A mandarin (once pods are well established, probably be my last addition), sailfin blenny, and possibly one more fish - maybe a royal gramma. Is this heavily stocked for a 75? Doesn't seem to me it is, but that is my opinion. I could do without the gramma, and be fine, no sleep lost, but my wife wants either that or a firefish, so I'd probably end up getting one or the other.

Anyways, here are the candidates, in no particular order. I am simply basing this off of live aquaria, so let me know if their info is incorrect or misleading.

I love my convict. Out of all my tangs he is by far the least aggressive and has a great personality. I think they are a very "underrated" tang. I am posting my vote for him, but would recommend him, the tomini, or the kole. The rest get either too big or in the case of the powder's or whitecheek, will get far to aggressive in a tank that size. Here is mine:

personally i like the powder brown but you would probably be better off with the convict in the 75g..i dont have personal experience with either one but both are on my tang wish list

I would avoid the powder brown/white check and the hippos, just get too big/too active for a 75. (( tried it many years ago ))

Would try one of the bristletooths.

yeah, the Koles, Yellows and Purples are the smallest ones, and even then a 75 is borderline too small for any of them.

blah i got a yellow in my 75 and it pops really pretty fish never shown any aggression actually he gets bullied by the flame angel ha... anywho regardless, the convict be a good choice or the kole if you decide against the yellow...but i would say go for the yellow because it will be fine first off...and if your wifey wants it i've learned make the wife happy then you can go spend time at the stores and she will get interested. and wont complain when your taking care of her fish :D

koles are great fish, but the convict is also a very underated fish and quite rare in peoples tanks.

Rare=Not available at the LFS for me....

They have Koles available readily, so that, and my wife, have mostly made my decision. If I do see a convict, I will get it definitely, as that is my preference.

But, my wife chose the Kole, and it is a fairly pretty fish in person - So Kole it is.

Seems like you've made your decision but I voted for convict as well. Them and scopas get underrated because of their colors, but they are both great tangs and generally quite peaceful.
