Picked up a new toy yesterday

A while back I sold my Tamron 200-500 because I just wasn't using it. To replace/augment my 70-200 4L I just picked up a new 100-400L IS. Now I can cover 12-400 with only 3 lens so I'm less likely to leave one at home.

Pardon the quality, I only have one real camera:

(And because you would say it to me),next time clean your glass!!!!

I have the Nikon version 80-400 VR...love the lens!

These shots were handheld at 400mm at the Lauderdale Air and Sea Show this year.

Nice toy.
I got the 70-200 f2.8L IS!
Also a nice toy. The only thing i miss with that one is the distance of focus. Cant get close enough.
Is it the 20D or 30D you got?

Nice lens beer guy. How do you like the push-pull zoom? I have heard it takes some getting use to. I have the 70-200 f2.8 IS and I love it. It is my favorite lens. Nothing like a good telephoto to get you right in the action.

Nice Thunderbid photos BigMojo. I love the airfoil on the wings in the first photo. Where were you to get so high up? Your photos brought back memories. I use to watch these guys every year at Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, MS growing up as a child.

FYI,

Be careful with that lens it has the older version of IS and if you use the IS mounted on a tripod it will harm it.

So just turn off the IS when it is tripod mounted.

Actually, that's Canon's recommendation for all IS lenses. ;)

:D Congrats! 1-4 is one I've looked at getting a LOT, still may be one I eventually get though right now I'm leaning more towards the 400mm prime since I'd like to get into shooting BIF. The white whale is a mighty fine lens, remember to control that breathing if you're shooting handheld!

Well I don't know about all of them. I do know that this is not the case for the 500mm and 600mm. These have canons latest IS and are made to work tripod mounted and with the IS on.
