Picked up my rock

They don't seem to 'mind' lots of flow, but will get kind of windswept if it is constant in the same direction. If you ever get any of the sea fan types, they like heavy flow.

i am not sure if i will get any because i am not sure what i am going to do with the tank anymore since i got this gorg and found out how great they look in person lol. i was planning on just macro then my mind thought it would look nice with maybe a leather and some zoas n mushrooms scattered around in the macro and now i really like gorgs and sea fans so it might be a jumbled mess of stuff but hopefully it works and looks good lol.

There are some really cool caribbean zoanthids and shrooms. I don't know if Richard gets any, but you can check. If not, let me know and I will point you in a good direction. If you like the gorgs, see if you can get a blade gorgonian. They are really neat. All of the photosynthetic (generally have brown polyps, not white ones) ones do real well. Heres pics of my three. The two candelabras are different morphs or maybe even diff species. The blade is the one with the flower anemone and is about 8" tall. The other two are almost a foot tall.

Sorry for the bad pics. The acrylic needs to be cleaned.

wow those gorgs look amazing. i will definitely be trying to get my hands on a couple more and once the one i have grows out more and i will be cutting 2 frags off it to see if i can save it i might place oone frag on the leg and maybe one in the back left corner i htink that would look really cool and maybe ill attach the original to a slightly larger piece of rubble and place it in the back right. then maybe one or 2 more kinds of gorgs the blade gorgonian looks really cool i will definetly get my hands on one eventually. i will stick to photosynthetic gorgs because i dont have the expertise for anything NPS. if i can find a photosynthetic seafan i will snag it and put it in the tank once the tank is ready. i will also be downgrading the K4 to a K3 or maybe one of the new evolution line of koralias. i am also waiting for odyssea to get their 36in T5HO advanced light back instock so i can order it for this tank

i have the holy grail of porcelain crabs. while taking the flashlight and looking through the tank just now trying to find either the pistol or mantis that keeps tapping i saw something scurry across the rock on the top left of the tank and saw it was a porcelain crab so i turned the flashlight off and sat back for a little while and turned it back on again this time for longer and i counted 4 that time so i did the same thing and counted 6 the third time all on the same rock. the biggest one looks to be .5in wide including the legs and they go down to about 1/4in wide. all on the same rock that is covered in featherdusters.

now does anybody know a good way to catch these guys because i dont want them in this tank i want them in my aquapod because this tank will eventually turn into a scorpionfish and lionfish tank so i dont think they would have much of a chance of surviving.

The are probably one of the shyest and hard to catch crabs. I have taken out rocks that I know are full of several, and can't find a single one when I look in the holes. They don't go for he usual bait, so I can't say for sure. You can try a hyposalinity dip, but I hate that kind of treatment. Somebody on here got quite a bit of stuff out by shooting hot water into the holes, but again... I would just take out rocks and set them in a bucket with a heater and airstone and check every so often to see if any are on the bottom. Good luck.

actually what i have decided to do is when i take the 2 rocks out of my aquapod to put in this tank im gonna take this rock out and put it in the aquapod that way i make sure to get all of them at one time

ok i caught that one big bad crab and stuck him in a small betta bowl in the tank until i can find some thing to do with him which will probably be stick him in a 6g until i can get a mantis lol. also the gorgonian has almost fully recovered without any fragging. i have also bought 20 astrea snails(only 15.80 which is only less than $7 more than buying 10) because of a diatoms outbreak which is to be expected from a tank that is finishing up cycling and sitting next to a window.
