Picking a skimmer SRO-XP3000E or something else?

Thanks for taking a minute to help! I'm loosing my mind with all the skimmers out there for what is a great skimmer at a reasonable price ($500-700)

I'm looking to replace the skimmer on my system. Currently the system is:

120 DT (looking to go to 180)
40G sump with 20G in it
50 gallon LPS Frag tank
10 Gallon SPS frag tank

bio-load is pretty low, though I will be adding to the family :)

total system is about 200G give or take. I would like to move to a 180 down the road and retain the skimmer.

looking for:
* external
* reliability
* consistency
* parts availability
* <$700

I was looking at Bermuda 5C, however with their disappearance I'm leaning to wards something parts are more readily available for.

Leaning towards external as the sump area is getting a bit tight!

With all the skimmers out there and prices all over the place I'm loosing my mind picking a skimmer. I'm willing to spend a bit, though as the price goes up it would be nice to see a return on the extra money :)

What are thoughts on the Super Reef XP3000 External SRO-XP3000E? how is this compared to the Vertex Alphas?

any other solid performing external skimmers that are good for my size system?

thanks for the help!

I just recently purchased a ETSS from AE Tech. I know these skimmers are not on your list, but you might want to take a look. I've had mine for a few months now and love it.

I cant comment on other skimmers but my sro xp5000 ext is a monster. My tank is fairly new but this skimmer is already pulling lots of gunk out.

Those are nice skimmers, remind me of the Aqua-C which are also fantastic!

I'm torn on becket like systems like the two mentioned - normally I would go that route, then again i keep hearing great things on the bubble blaster pumps which is what led me to the SRO. choice choices choice!

how consistent is the skimmer for you? My biggest concern of going impeller based is consistency.

thanks!

the sro is a really nice unit. The bermuda does skim well but it is not near as efficient as the SRO. I have had them both.And both are built pretty well. The bermuda a tad heavier in places but lacks some of the SRO 's newer technology.

Mojo~
